Advertising Rates & Guidelines
MuseCon is a convention for artists, musicians, inventors, gadgeteers, makers, tinkerers, celebrating creativity in all forms. We are planning both classes and hands-on workshops on a myriad of topics.
MuseCon will be held the weekend of August 5th through 7th, 2011 at the Westin Chicago Northwest hotel in Itasca, Illinois. We are expecting approximately 400 attendees.
Advertising is available in our Program Book, which also includes the convention schedule and program descriptions. The 2011 Program Book will be based on folded letter-size paper, with a final page size of by 5-1/2" wide by 8-1/2" tall with a minimum one-half inch margins.
The Professional rates listed below apply to commercial, for-profit organizations and businesses. Fan rates apply to other conventions, clubs and guilds, and non-profit organizations with no salaried staff. If you are not sure which category you fall under, please contact us at: pr@musecon.org

Acceptable Formats & Resolution
- Adobe PDF, fonts embedded (preferred)
- Adobe InDesign, packaged w/fonts & images (preferred)
- Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator native files - must include fonts or convert to graphics
- High-Resolution JPEG or TIFF, uncompressed Minimum 300 dpi resolution
Microsoft Word, GIF, and low-resolution JPEG or TIFF files are not acceptable.
Fonts:
- Do not use applications to apply styles such as bold, italic, etc., use actual bold, etc. fonts (ie: use the pull-down menu, not the button).
- If you are unsure about embedding, send the font files.
- Please verify that the font can be legally shared with service providers (check the font licensing!)
Deadlines:
- Ad space reservations: Friday, June 10, 2011
- Ad content: Friday, July 1, 2011
Other Considerations:
The Program Book will be printed in black and white (greyscale), except that the back cover is available in color, as listed above. Color space must be CMYK.
Please plan for a greyscale advertisement. If you submit a color advertisement, MuseCon cannot be responsible for conversion issues, and your advertisement may be returned for conversion.
Ads which do not fit the printable areas listed above will be scaled to fit, or returned for editing. Please plan for the appropriate size, an ad designed for a full page may suffer legibility issues when reduced to a smaller size.
If you need more than a half-page, please submit two half-page ads at the listed dimensions, with left- and right-side ads clearly indicated, and we will run them on facing pages. We cannot accommodate letter-sized advertisements with no gutter.
